It is a short or medium-term peripherally placed radiopaque polyurethane catheter used for parenteral nutrition and drug administration in very low weight (1 kg and less) premature babies and newborns.

Premicath is manufactured from heat-sensitive polyurethane, which makes it easy to insert but softens quickly once placed in the vein.
